New General Manager
GRAND HYATT MUSCAT ANNOUNCES NEW GENERAL MANAGER
Paul Murphy joins the property by end of March 2017
Grand Hyatt Muscat announces the appointment of its new General Manager Paul Murphy, as of the end of March 2017.
“I am thrilled and excited to be given this opportunity to continue my incredible journey and to return to a region that I have a great passion for. Oman is often described as ‘The Pearl of Arabia’, and Grand Hyatt Muscat has an incredible reputation for the level of service and care that its colleagues offer the hotel’s many local and international guests. I look forward to working with the entire team in this beautiful hotel and location,” Mr. Murphy said.
Originally from Australia, he began his career in hospitality within Food & Beverages, which lead him to work for some of the world’s leading hotels in the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Russia and back in Australia, before joining the Hyatt™ family in March 2005.
“In 2005, I became a part of the Hyatt™ family and I haven’t looked back since,” he said. He was appointed as Director of Catering at Grand Hyatt Dubai and was then promoted to Director of Events. For almost five years he headed the hotel’s large Convention and Catering Sales team, establishing the property as a leader in the city’s dynamic conferencing and catering market.
In January 2011, Mr. Murphy became Resident Manager of Hyatt Regency Delhi, where he spent 18 months, before being assigned to rebrand and launch the five Hyatt™ hotels in India.
In September 2013, he became General Manager of Hyatt Regency Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan. “Though each country is unique, the Hyatt™ brand for me remains a constant. It’s a real pleasure to be bringing my experience from each property back to the Sultanate,” he said.
He officially takes over as General Manager of Grand Hyatt Muscat on 28 March 2017.
